| Quotes from the Movie | |
|
"He wants to know when you'll be through."--Jenny (Carol Kane), repeating to Sonny (Al Pacino) what her husband is asking her on the phone as he's robbing the bank "No, I don't want to be paid, I don't need to be paid. Look, I'm here with my partner and nine other people, see. And we're dying, man. You know? You're going to see our brains on the sidewalk, they're going to spill our guts out. Now, are you going to show that on television? Have all your housewives look at that? Instead of AS THE WORLD TURNS? I mean, what do you got for me? I want something for that."--Sonny "Attica! Attica!"--Sonny to the crowds outside the bank |

Dog Day Afternoon: A Snapshot of America on One Very Hot Afternoon
Pros: The acting, the writing, the directing, the editing, the little stuff Cons: Stylistically, the film is "of its time." That's not a con for me, but still... Bottom Line: An Underrated Gem
Pros: Direction, screenplay, Pacino, Cazale, Sarandon. Cons: None. Bottom Line: A media circus on a Dog Day Afternoon
Pros: Acting, cast, direction, writing, technical values. Cons: Different from what some expect. Bottom Line: Delightfully Strange
Pros: Well-acted, well-written, funny, entertaining Cons: May not be enough action for some people Bottom Line: See This In An Air Conditioned Room
Pros: Excellent acting by Pacino, Casale, and others. Cons: The bank they robbed was not J.P. Morgan Chase. Bottom Line: Michael and Fredo Robbing a Bank
Pros: Terrific direction, script, top notch performances from Pacino, Sarandon, Durning Cons: Reality is very hard to believe sometimes Lesser-known Classic
Pros: Acting, dialog, evoking, unique Cons: N/A Bottom Line: Killing Zoe vs Dog Day Afternoon
Pros: A ground breaking trend setting movie for society and Pacino Cons: Somewhat dated, but compared to Killing Zoe it is still fresh. Bottom Line: The Robbery Should Have Taken 10 Minutes
Pros: Great script, great direction, Al Pacino and John Cazale! Cons: I would have wanted to see more of Charles Durning Bottom Line: Doing All The Wrong Things: Lumet's Dog Day Afternoon
Pros: Pacino, a different angle on the hostage-film genre Cons: The swift rise of Sonny from loser to anti-hero, the disco fashions Bottom Line: |
