The Beatles: George Harrison (vocals, guitar, sitar); John Lennon (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Paul McCartney (vocals, guitar, piano, bass); Ringo Starr (vocals, organ, drums). Additional personnel: George Martin (piano); Mal Evans (organ). Virtually every aspect of the Liverpool quartet's incredibly diverse sound is in evidence here: the dark, irony-filled Dylanism ("Norwegian Wood," "Nowhere Man"), pop perfection ("In My Life"), the passion for classic tin pan alley balladry ("Girl," "Michelle"), and the love of good 'ol rock & roll music ("Drive My Car"). Peppered with nasty fuzz bass, exotic sitar, cartoonishly sped-up piano that sounds like harpsichord, and elements of country, Motown, and classical music, the album reveals a creative ... Minimize

"Had you come some other day, then it might not have been like this"

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Many of the Beatles best songs, new sounds like fuzz bass and sitar, cool cover

Cons: I'm Looking Through You gets on my nerves. It's not horrible, though

Bottom Line:
Buy it now. Read More

The Beatles - Rubber Soul

Where it all began W/O - The Beatles transforming moment

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Incredible vocals, song writing and stylistic experimentation - tragically romantic theme and humor

Cons: What were their faults...none that I can think of.

Bottom Line:
Experimentation with jazz forms, eastern music (sitar), Russian progressions, French lyrics, country music and the harmonium...is there no end? A sad romance album. Read More

Where The Beatles Went From A Great Band To *The* Great Band

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: The melodies and instrumentation standards are rising rapidly

Cons: Huh??

Bottom Line:
This was the transition album between Help! and Revolver. Already, you can see the improvement of quality and knack for experimentation! Read More

If only all transitional albums were this good...

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Like, ya know, just about everything really. This album's rather good really.

Cons: It's consistently ridiculously good, not ridiculously great. Pffft, other bands should "suffer" from these problems.

Bottom Line:
This is pretty much the album that showed the world just how great rock and roll could be. Do I really have to say more? Read More

Song after song just plain great...

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: great songs, great writers, everything is great and that's what matters

Cons: it's a slight bit out-of-date but you can get into it.

Bottom Line:
The beatles pull out of boy-girl pop and change music, but that's not importent now, what's importent now is that theseare just plain good songs Read More

Here's where things started to get interesting...

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Show's an amazing amount of artistic growth from earlier albums.

Cons: Are you kidding me? None!
