Author's Review
My husband and I were looking for a car for my oldest daughter; while we were waiting I starting looking through the cars to see if there was anything I would like, for the future. When I got to the end of the lot not finding anything I really liked I turned around to head back to the office, the color of this car caught my attention, the car was orange, different from all the others on the lot. It was sporty looking with a sunroof and chrome that makes it sparkle, something that we all look for in a car. I open the door to sit in it; it has two toned leather--how beautiful! Just sitting in it was awesome. I then started to wonder if it was sold because it was not even facing the street like the other cars. Well it was not sold, until I test drove it.
Exterior and Interior
The exterior of the Avenger is beefy looking for a car it reminds me more of the old muscle cars a little stocky. The rear end spoiler gives the car its sporty appearance. The color is quite unique, sunburst orange pearl, it glistens in the sun. A touch of chrome on the front grille, eighteen inch ultra bright aluminum wheels and the dual chrome exhaust tips makes this car stand out above the rest.
What Dodge has done with the interior is outstanding two toned leather which is, dark slate gray and light gray stone. The seating is very comfortable in all the seats. The two toned scheme is carried throughout the inside of the car along with silver and leather trim makes it a nice clean design without over doing it. The steering wheel has even been done in the two toned leather; as you place your hands on the wheel you feel power and control. I have control buttons on both side of the wheel to control the radio this is a nice feature so your hands can stay on the wheel, however I have turned the station to the wrong channel, I become more distracted in trying to fix the radio than driving, this is not the best feature of the car. I do love the cruise control it is on the right hand of the steering wheel with one finger I can set it and float down the road. Just beyond the steering wheel are the three easy to read gauges. On the passenger side dash board it has a chill zone where you can put up to four sodas and they will stay cold, nice for traveling. I have all the bells and whistles on this car, with the exception of the hot/cold cup holders and an ash tray. This truly is the best looking muscle car I have ever owned.
Navigation
I have a multimedia entertainment system with a DVD system, with a screen in the front and one in the back seat for viewing, a 20-GB hard drive and a navigation system with turn by turn instructions. This is a truly state of the art system. I can select AM, FM or Satellite with the 20-GB I can also store my own music CDs along with my personal photos to display on the screen. Dodge gives you the Sirius Satellite for a complimentary one year subscription. The easy to read and soft touch tone screen is very helpful you can preset all your favorite radio stations plus you can touch a button and all the information of the song is displayed. I also have hard touch buttons that I can push to activate any of the following--the voice activated command, radio media, my cell phone or the navigation system.
With the navigation system I have never got lost, not even in Wyoming. I can choose my destination and the voice activated command will give my turn by turn instruction. I can even ask the car to find restaurants and gas stations, all this with out having to pull over to look at the screen. I can store up to 12 CDs on the hard drive Juke Box this way I do not have to fumble with CDs while traveling. When traveling long distances I can put a DVD in and my passengers can view it in the back seat, as soon as I put the car in drive the front screen turns off and turns on my screen saver for safety, I can either control the DVD or the passengers can use the remote control.
Performance
The performance of this car has never let me down. The Avenger has a 3.5 liter 235 horse V-6 engine along with a six-speed Auto Stix. With this feature you have the best of both worlds you can either leave the car in the automatic feature or you can place it in the Auto Stix and shift it yourself; my husband really likes this feature. The All Wheel Drive gives me the traction I need to feel safe on the road I can turn with precision and hug the road.
Driving this car around town heads turn and people ask questions about it, I feel good about my purchase. I have had my 2008 Dodge Avenger R/T since July, it is truly a good looking car and performs well. I would encourage anyone to purchase it and for under 33,000 it is truly a steal.
